My way of thinking has been westernised over years but time in Japan to look after elderly mother gave me a chance to review own culture and heritage.
I was overwhelmed by old stuff in my parents' house that had lost both meaning and owner over the years. Especially many old fashioned utilities are loosing positions between rapidly evolved consumption culture and digital technology in both side of world. Paper as a material has been deeply involved in Japanese traditional life that is recycled and reused for many ways include for recording, communication, making garment, decoration and even building material.
Even in Western society books and handwritten letters are no longer fashionable items. However it is certain that people are longing for something in tactile.
My works use these forgotten and lost meaning objects that suggest different perspective, it is not looking back but it will direct your gaze towards the future.
